Wing Improver / Refresher Course

2 hrs per session, one student, one instructor. The improver / refresher course is for experienced riders who want to master high-performance techniques, and for wingfoilers who learnt a while ago and want a safe return to the water. Each session is built around what you want to work on.

What you can work on — IWO Level 4

• Jump basics: controlling take-offs and landings for a smooth, powerful aerial.
• Power jibes: keeping speed and precision through dynamic changes of direction.
• Jumps with rotation.
• Riding on waves: using the energy of the water for fluid, graceful lines.
• Riding with a harness, for longer sessions and more stability, then jumping with the harness.

With expert guidance you refine your abilities, expand your skill set and gain complete control and versatility on the water. Book a single session or a package of three.

What is included

The full wingfoil set: wing, foil board and foil, helmet, wetsuit, life jacket and shoes — F-One and Duotone gear — plus insurance. You schedule your lessons yourself, whenever you like, depending on the wind.

The spot

Wingfoil lessons run on our main spot at Thong Sala: a flat lagoon of white sand protected by a coral reef, clear water at around 30 °C all year, 0.5 to 1.5 m deep depending on the tide — you can stand up everywhere, which makes learning fast and safe. We are the only school in this area, so there is plenty of free space. Wind is 10 to 15 knots, sometimes 20–25 and more: south-east and side-on from mid-December to April, south-west from May to October (with boat sessions in deeper water when the tide is low). From November to mid-January the school moves to the north spot at Chaloklum, Wattana Resort, with on-shore to side-on north-east wind.

Safety, certification and no-wind policy

• Every lesson is run by a certified IWO instructor, following the IWO teaching and rescue standard, with a maximum of two students per instructor. Helmets and impact vests are worn throughout, and radio helmets let the instructor coach you in real time.
• Your progress is recorded on your IWO progression card, accepted by schools and rental centres in more than 40 countries. Accrokite is a certified IWO centre.
• Lessons booked online are valid for 18 months, and refunded if there is no wind during your stay (minus 7% payment fees). If the wind is too light on the day, we move your session rather than waste it.
