Safety is our top priority when it comes to teaching kiteboarding, and age restrictions play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our students. While age requirements may differ slightly between kitesurfing schools, the general guideline is that participants should be at least 12 years old.

The minimum age requirement is in place for safety reasons, as younger children may not have the physical strength, coordination, or cognitive abilities required to safely operate the kite and board. However, some schools, including Accrokite IKO Thailand, offer specialized programs designed specifically for younger children, typically starting at around 8 to 10 years old. These programs are tailored to the needs and abilities of younger participants, with a focus on safety and fun.

In Thailand’s warm tropical climate, lightweight and quick-drying clothing such as rash guards and board shorts are ideal choices. These materials provide flexibility and protection from the sun while allowing you to move freely during your kiteboarding sessions.

However, if you’re sensitive to cooler water temperatures or plan to kite during early mornings or late evenings when the air temperature may be cooler, wearing a thin wetsuit or neoprene top can provide added warmth without restricting movement.

Ultimately, the key is to dress comfortably and in clothing that allows for ease of movement while providing protection from the sun and wind. By wearing the right attire, you can fully enjoy your kitesurfing experience in the beautiful waters of Thailand with IKO Thailand.

Firstly, it’s crucial to maintain a safe distance from other kitesurfers while on the water to avoid collisions and entanglements. Be mindful of your surroundings and always give other riders plenty of space to manoeuvre.

Secondly, be cautious of offshore winds, which can carry you out to sea and make it difficult to return to shore. Always check wind conditions before heading out and avoid kitesurfing in offshore winds if possible.

Additionally, it’s essential to respect local rules and regulations governing kitesurfing activities, including designated kite zones and prohibited areas. Familiarize yourself with local guidelines and adhere to them to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for yourself and others.

Lastly, always use proper safety gear, including a harness, helmet, and life jacket, and undergo thorough instruction from a certified instructor before attempting kitesurfing. Proper training and equipment are essential for staying safe on the water and avoiding accidents.
