Koh Phangan runs on three wind seasons. We move the school with them.
The school moves north to Chaloklum, at Wattana Resort. North-east wind, on-shore to side-on, over a flat shallow lagoon that suits every level.
The main season, on Thong Sala Beach. A thermal south-east wind, usually the most regular of the year and often the strongest, with February and March at the top.
West wind, on the harbour side of Thong Sala at The Pier Resort. Conditions are less settled, with more rain and thunderstorms, but the wind can be strong and some days genuinely powerful.

All three spots are flat, shallow lagoons where you can stand up, so they suit every level. What changes is the season: Thong Sala on a thermal south-east wind from mid-December/January, The Pier on a west wind during the monsoon, Chaloklum on a north-east wind from mid-November. The team confirms the spot of the day according to conditions.
Mid-December/January to mid-April/May is the main season, on Thong Sala with a thermal south-east wind — usually the most regular and often the strongest of the year. From mid-November to mid-December/January the school moves north to Chaloklum, on a north-east wind. From May to October we ride at The Pier on a west wind: less settled, with more rain and thunderstorms, but some very windy days.
The lagoon sits between 0.5 and 1.5 metres depending on the tide, over flat water protected by a reef. Low tide widens the standing area, which is why beginner sessions are often planned around it.

The main base is at Thong Sala, 101/2 M1, a few minutes from the ferry pier. The Pier is on the harbour side of the same bay, and Chaloklum is a short scooter or taxi ride to the north of the island. The team confirms the meeting point for the day.
